Moving application received at Homefront Hugs to adopt a hero

(Name and address were changed for privacy ) . We really do have the most amazing volunteers at Homefront Hugs USA from all walks of life and experiences wanting to lift morale , prevent depression and remind our troops they are not alone . This was an application we just had to share .

Name : Ann Schmidt

Address : 1000 Heroes Way , Pensacola, Florida

I agree to keep all information confidential and not share any details with anyone.(OPSEC)

I agree to send two care packages a month with a card or letter and positive messages.

A friend I went to high school with (many, many years ago!) posted on Facebook that she was adopting a hero and I decided to look into this.  As I was reading about the options, I thought this would make a great christmas gift for those who don’t need any more material things.   So, instead of spending my money for something a person will not need or use, I am choosing to use the same money and buy care package items to send to heroes.   My father was in the coast guard during the korean war, my uncle was in the marines during the vietnam war, one good friend was in the army during Desert Storm, I have another good friend who was a marine, a nephew who was in the air force, and several other friends who have been in the national guard.  Military men and women sacrifice EVERYTHING to ensure my freedom and to help keep our country safe.  The bravery they show astounds me and I am so grateful for them.  I want to be able to give back somehow and your program is a perfect fit for me to be able to do that.

I would like to adopt three heroes and I promise I am committed to getting care packages to each of them throughout the year.    I agree to the longest deployments.  Although all deployments are difficult, I can only imagine that the longer ones wear more on our heroes.

I am an American Citizen.  I am over 18 years of age.  In fact I am 45 years of age.

I look forward to hearing about my heroes and sending care packages and encouraging notes to them!  Please let me know if you need any more information from me.  And thank you for all your hard work getting these heroes the support they need.
